At 8:00 am this morning local time, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez arrived in Montego Bay, as a special guest invited to the 39th regular meeting of the Conference of Caricom heads of state and government, on what is his second trip abroad as President of the Councils of State and Ministers, clear evidence of the solidarity that unites Cuba with our Caribbean sister nations.
He was received at the international airport by Senate President Thomas Tavares-Finson, who told the press that he felt “proud to welcome him.”
As they left the airport, two young Jamaicans greeted Díaz-Canel with a handshake, telling him in perfect Spanish that they had graduated from Cuban universities, one studied Agronomy in Villa Clara, and the other Economics in Cienfuegos.
Accompanying the Cuban President on this trip are Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra Díaz; and Cuba’s ambassador in Jamaica, Inés Fors Fernández. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
