European Union´s High Representative for External Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, is on an official visit to Cuba, where she will participate Friday at the seventh European Union-Cuba session for a bilateral political dialog.
Mogherini´s agenda also includes talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other activities.
The European Union and Cuba are expected to initialize the text of an accord for bilateral cooperation and political dialog, which has been in the works since April 2014.
The seventh round of negotiations to conclude the document relative to the accord wound up March 4 in Havana. In this regards, Cuba´s deputy foreign minister Abelardo Moreno told reporters that the two parties advanced all aspects of the document.
Just few details are to be addressed related to the text of the document, which is target to political verifications by the two sides. The document has a political preamble affirming the respect of Cuba´s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
The accord, aimed at strengthening relations between the EU and Havana, includes a chapter on political dialog, another on cooperation and sectorial policies and a third chapter on trade. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
