Literary Award from Casa de las Americas in Cuba ended on Thursday, January 30, 2015 with the information on the results at Che Guevara Hall of that institution. This ratifies once more the extraordinary signification of writing in this continent. It is recognized in Cuba and abroad.
Panamanian Manuel Orestes Nieto is one of the intellectuals that values the works presented in poetry. Among his awards there is for instance, the Prize he was granted in 1975. “For me it is a privilege to be a member of the jury this year. Its prestige and respect is recognized not only in Latin America and the Caribbean, but also in the world. It has contributed to find a way to spread literary works registered for its quality in the everyday wider and transcendental spectrum of literature of the continent,” he said.
On his part, the Ecuadorian Edgar Allan Garcia, member of the Children and Youngsters Literature jury considers that “Casa Prize has been emblematic for my country for several reasons. Cuba is mainly historical and political reference among the Ecuadorian progressive groups, so, winning has been a dream of many writers in times where there was no – or did not know—of the many international resources, the one from Casa was one of the few lights in our literary horizon.
“Although many have tried to, just three compatriot writers have been awarded with this Prize, so, it is a challenge for Ecuadorian literary persons and thinkers,” he stressed.
The edition program had carried out activities in the halls Manuel Galich and the Latin American Gallery where there were presented the books that won the last edition.
