Building a better trade union movement, based on the contributions of each collective, is the goal of the men and women of the Ministry of Construction (MICONS) who will represent Matanzas in the final sessions of the 22nd Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Central Union (CTC).
Misael Rodríguez Llanes, General Secretary of the National Union of Construction Workers (SNTC), stated that «we will take our experience in this path of continuous improvement in the management of cadres and leaders in all structures, especially at the grassroots, to the great event of April 2025.
«We need a union that responds to the demands of the workers and the country’s management, that stands on its own two feet, that is proactive, admired and recognized by its members and workers. This is the greatest challenge for the organization,» Rodríguez Llanes stressed.
The delegation represents a province that Fidel described as very industrious, revolutionary and cultured, one of those that contribute the most to the investment process of the country, which is why it is concentrated in Varadero, the main tourist construction site of the country, for the orders in the city and also for the contribution of the Hydraulic Institute with all its structure, he recognized.
He said that the 22nd Congress will also be an opportunity to recall how much is being done at the grassroots level, from the innovation and talent of our people, to overcome the obstacles imposed by the U.S. blockade against Cuba and how this is having such a negative impact on the progress of the nation.
At the headquarters of the Architecture and Engineering Projects Company (EMPAI), the sector’s delegation to the Conclave was constituted, one of the most important moments in the organic process of the 22nd CTC.
Rodríguez Llanes highlighted the value of the delegates, all of whom, he said, have a rich labor history and, as union leaders, among whom the two from Varadero stand out, are part of an «army of white helmets who are the mainstay in the construction of hotels that contribute to the national economy.»
He referred to the delegate for the private sector, in line with its performance and because Matanzas is the province with more new economic actors in the construction sector and, in the particular case of «Habital, it is fundamental in the development of the housing program and social works in the province. This MSME is an example of what is needed in the country», he acknowledged.
He praised the fact that the select group also includes Jorge Luis Hernández Rodríguez, direct delegate of EMPAI, where he serves as General Director, «leader of a collective with increasingly better results, 29 times National Vanguard».
The delegation from Matanzas includes Armando Roncourt Copello, former General Secretary of the BCOA 36; Javier Gómez Pérez, Director of Habital; Leonardo Vidal Colina, General Secretary of the Trade Union Office of the International Business Association ARCOS-BBI; Misael Rodríguez Llanes, General Secretary of the SNTC; and Yarasí Soto Serrano, General Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the CTC in Limonar.
The delegation of this union in Matanzas was formed in the context of the 5th of December, the Day of the Builder, a date that was established at the initiative of Fidel Castro and which is already celebrating its 52nd anniversary.
