A new increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Cuba was reported by the Ministry of Public Health. According to the most recent tally concluded on March 24, nine new cases have tested positive in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 57.
The ministry communiqué indicated that all the new patients had traveled abroad recently or been in contact with someone who had. The countries involved include the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Italy, France, Germany, and Spain.
According to the communiqué, of the 57 patients identified thus far, 54 remain hospitalized, including two in critical condition.
A 71-year-old Italian patient, hospitalized in Holguín, was previously reported as being in serious condition.
All other patients remain in stable condition.
In Cuba, 1,479 patients, including 116 visitors from abroad and 1,363 Cubans, have been admitted to isolation and care centers for clinical and epidemiological surveillance. Another 36,526 persons are monitored in their homes by primary health care teams. Thus far, 738 samples have been tested, 57 of which were positive for the coronavirus. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
