A delegation from the Cuban Communist Party led by Olga Lidia Tapia, a member of the Secretariat, met in Hanoi on Tuesday with authorities of education, science and sports, to ensure exchanges on these issues.

Tapia met on Tuesday with executives from the Ministries of Science and Technology and Culture, Sports and Tourism, Viglacera Corporation and the National Sports Administration, as well as visiting a junior high school and the National Center for Sports Training.

In the meeting with Science and Technology Minister, Chu Ngoc Anh, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in several spheres.

Among the most likely is the case of biotechnology, with productions in the Vietnamese nation based on technology supplied by the island.

Tapia expressed her country’s interest in taking advantage of Vietnamese experiences in food processing, nanotechnology and development of technology parks, and highlighted the attention the new Cuban Draft Constitution gives to science and technology issues.

She reviewed with the chairman of Viglacera Corporation, Luyen Cong Minh, many projects the company is carrying out in Cuba.

Cuba granted a subsidiary of that company the first administrative concession in the Mariel Special Development Zone to develop an industrial park in that strategic area of the national economy.

Viglacera Corporation also participates in the island in projects for the production of building materials and hotel construction.

During the meeting with Le Khan Hai, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnamese official expressed interest in holding a week of Vietnamese cinema on the island and regularize the exchange of sports, artistic and cultural delegations, as well as experiences in the tourist sector.
