Cuban authorities reported on the construction of a new photovoltaic park in the center of the country, with which they reinforce their plans to develop clean energy.
A note from the Cuban News Agency (ACN) indicates that work will be carried out in the central province of Villa Clara, and its execution was devised by professors and students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Central University Marta Abreu of Las Villas (UCLV ).
This work was promoted by the experts of the UCLV in collaboration with specialists from the Unión Eléctrica de Cuba (UNE).
The selected land is located in areas of the UCLV, eight kilometers far from the city of Santa Clara (provincial capital) and the Brigade no. 1 of the Construction Ministry is involved in its execution.
With this park they intend to supply parts of the UCLV and the university distribution, so it is necessary to connect it to the line of 33 kilowatts that passes close to the place, explained the faculty professor of Electrical Engineering, Yandi Gallego.
He specified that the operation of the project will save 73 kilowatt-hours per day, which is equivalent to producing 26 megawatts-hour per year in the absence of fossil fuels.
The leader of the construction, the engineer Leopoldo Enrique, pointed out that the execution of the project marches over 45 percent.
He noted that the delivery is scheduled for December 24 and includes the part of civil construction and assembly of the main architectural structures. Cuba has a privileged geographic position for the development of solar energy. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
