Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez is in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly’s General Debate, to be held September 19-25, as Prensa Latina reported.

Rodríguez is expected to speak on Thursday, when he will denounce the continuation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the island by the United States for over 55 years, and call for a new world order marked by justice and equity.

In addition to his address to the main UN deliberative body, which brings together the 193 member states of the organization, the Cuban minister will undertake an intense agenda, including various bilateral meetings and exchanges.

According to the provisional list of speakers, more than 130 Heads of State and Government will participate in the high-level debate of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly.

The General Debate central theme this year is “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet.” (Taken from en.granma.cu)
