The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro received the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, who ends today an official visit to Cuba.

According to local media, the Japanese leader recalled the visit of Fidel Castro to his country and its significance in strengthening the friendship between both peoples.

In a frank dialogue, they referred to the century-old relations between the two nations, which continue to develop and to which this visit, the first by a Japanese prime minister to Cuba, contributes.

According to a note of the digital version of the newspaper Granma, Fidel Castro and Abe exchanged on the complexities and dangers affecting the world and the need to strengthen efforts towards the elimination of nuclear weapons and the preservation of peace.

The meeting, held yesterday, concluded with the mutual desire and confidence that the visit will strengthen the development of friendly relations and cooperation in the fight for health and welfare of countries with fewer resources. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
