Fire Party: An Embrace in Santiago De Cuba

On Thursday, July 4 started the 34th edition of the Caribbean Festival in Santiago de Cuba. The country turned into a space of confluence of artistic manifestations of the region and a scenario to show the world the most authentic values they defend with culture with shield and sword.

This edition is devoted to Suriname and remarks the wide power of call with the participation of a bit more a thousand representations from 30 countries of the Caribbean, besides Latin America and Europe. Men and women will join to fraternize with art and theoretical debates.

The Fire Party, as it is also known is scheduled to be held from July 3 to 9 with a facilitator program for exchange between intellectuals, groups bringing traditional popular cultures and the audience with their performances in theaters, parks and squares.

The colloquium The Caribbean that joins us will have special connotation. This is the academic moment of the festival. There will also be artistic galas, the opening of the thematic park of heroes from the Caribbean, the workshop on popular religions, the show to honor the slavery rebel, the Snake Parade-passacaglia of all delegations participating- and the closing with the burning of the  Devil, in allusion to the destruction of evil.

Authorities from the Caribbean House, from Santiago de Cuba sponsoring this event said the award this year will be granted to six runaway communities from Suriname.
