An unfair verdict to semi-heavy Julio Cesar La Cruz deprived Cuban Team Domadores to end unbeated in the preliminary phase of the DAWN 4th World Boxing Series of IABA.
In Moscow Arena, the Russian team won the last series of the calendar in group B 3-2 fights, but with the shadow of clear dispossession that benefited the experienced Nikita Ivanov, current monarch in Europe in 81 Kg.
The match started with the triumph of fly Bakhtovar Nazirov against Caribbean Gerardo Cervantes by technical KO in the fourth assault, but the advantage lasted a little to the Euro-Asian boxers, because light Lazaro Alvarez Estrada equaled the confrontation with a quick ending (technical KO in the second assault) on Adlan Abdurashidov.
The following fight with the Cuban current world sub-champion Arisnoidys Despaigne (69 Kg) who won the Russian Andrei Zamkovoi, bronze in the Olympic Games in London 2012. The verdict of the judges in favor to the Cuban was 49-46, 49-46, 48-47.
There was later the dispossession of La Cruz versus Ivanov that was even until the 5th round. During the last three minutes La Cruz did not stop fighting, and he clearly marked the face of his opponent, but just one of the referees saw him. So the battle was won by the local 2-1 (48-47, 48-47, 47-48).
The closing was in the hands of the super heavy Maxim Babanin who defeated Yoandris Toirac (49-46, 48-47, 49-46), a fight that demonstrated the lack of experience and maturity of our boxer.
With this defeat Domadores from Cuba lost the opportunity to equal the great deed of Baru Fires in edition 2011-2012 when they won the 12 preliminary matches that added 30 points.
In this activity, Thunder from Italy won 3-2 to the Algerian Falcons from the Desert.
After these events, there are already defined the crosses of the four quarters: Domadores from Cuba vs. Nocauts of the United States, Astana´s Promises (KAZ) vs. German Eagles, Russia vs. Otamans from Ukraine and Baru Fires (AZE) vs Thunder from Italy.
That phase will take place from March 28 to April 4, and in case they are even with an additional fight in 91 Kg.
