We have to keep on contributing with opinions on the Labor Draft Law to elaborate an honorable final document that will guarantee the rights and duties of the Cuban workers.
Ana Maria Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of the People’s Power said during a territorial meeting with the deputies living in the provinces of La Habana and Mayabeque, and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality at the Conventional Center of Cojimar. There were also present specialists from the National Assembly, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC).
Jose Luis Toledo Santander, president of the Commission for Constitutional Affairs of the Cuban Parliament leaded the deputies and union leaders to review the text of the
Draft Law, chapter by chapter and they expressed dozens of propositions.
All of them agreed on their commitment to elaborate a code to defend the Cuban Revolution and guarantee sovereignty and independence.
Margarita Gonzalez Fernandez, Labor and Social Security minister introduced the new formulation of the document, modified by the affiliates’ opinions emerged in the workplaces. She noted the aspects the workers propose to add, to change or eliminate.
Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento, president of the Organizing Commission of the XX Congress of the CTC summarized the main results of the consulting process where there have been held 69, 056 meetings with the participation of more than 2,8 million workers, which represents a 91 percent.
The workers gave 171,680 proposals, from them the 70 percent in relation to labor contracts, working conditions and vacation, wages, solutions to working conflicts and the unions.
