National Assembly of People’s Power: Commission working on Constitutional reform holds initial sessions

Early yesterday morning, June 3, the National Assembly commission of deputies charged with drafting and presenting Constitutional reform proposals held its first session at the Palacio de la Revolución.

With Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, chairing the meeting as president of the commission, members began their work hearing reports on studies previously carried out, which will serve as a foundation for their efforts.

Also participating were the President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Second Party Secretary José Ramón Machado Ventura. Discussion focused on issues related to the constitutional impact of economic, political, and social changes made over the last few years, in accordance with policies approved at the Sixth and Seventh Party Congresses and its first National Conference.

The commission is composed of 33 members representing all sectors of Cuban society, will continue it work without interruption, given the importance and priority of the task at this crucial time for the Revolution. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
