Cuba defeated Chile in the first day of the fourth edition of the 2017 Women´s U20 Pan American Volleyball Cup, with a stage until next Saturday at the National Gymnasium of San Jose, Costa Rica.
According to the website of the contest, Cuba won 3-0 (25-17, 25-11 and 25-12) in match of group C.
Ailama Cese was Cuba´s scoring leader with 13 points and was escorted by Dairis De la Caridad (10), Heidy Casanova (9) and Laura Beatriz Suarez (8).
The other three regular players of the Caribbean nation were Lisset Herrera (6) and Gretell Moreno (4), with Lianny Tamayo as libero, while Beatriz Novoa (7) and Karen Morales (5) highlighted for the Chileans.
This tournament grants one ticket for teams from the North, Central America and the Caribbean (NORCECA) area and two for South American squads.
The Dominicans are already qualified to the World Cup by their status as current planet and NORCECA champions.
Cuba rests today and the program includes the matches United States-Argentina (A), Uruguay-Puerto Rico (B) and Chile-Peru (C).
Mexico will host the World Cup in the towns of Boca del Rio and Córdoba, from next July 7 to 16. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
