Vietnam celebrates anniversary of diplomatic relations with Cuba

The Secretary General of the Communist Party and President of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, and PM Nguyen Xuan Phu sent a joint congratulatory message to the First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, Raul Castro, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.

On such pleasant occasion we reiterate our wishes and determination to continue deepening the bonds of fraternal solidarity and full cooperation between both parties, states, governments and people, to better contribute to the revolutionary cause in each country, both Vietnamese leaders said.

Similar messages were sent by the President of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and the Vietnamese vice PM and foreign minister, Pham Binh Minh, to their Cuban counterparts, Esteban Lazo and Bruno Rodriguez, respectively.

Cuban Ambassador to Hanoi, Lianys Torres, stated that this has been a fruitful year of political, economic and commercial exchanges between the two countries and stressed that Vietnam has always been, is and will continue to be a priority nation in Cuban foreign policy.

For his part, Vietnamese ambassador to Havana, Nguyen Trung Thanh, pointed out that «in these 59 years, Vietnam and Cuba have made great efforts to deepen bonds that are certainly special and which strength has been proven over time.

December 2, 2020, will be a unique moment in the history of these relations and we will celebrate it in style,» he said. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
