Cuba’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Dulce Maria Buergo denounced in France the impact of the US-imposed blockade on the cultural sphere and shared some of the measures adopted to counteract this policy.
The damages resulting from the blockade have bilateral repercussions, as not only are Cuban and US artists prevented from entering each country, but initiatives in areas such as music and performing arts are banned, among other obstacles, Buergo noted on participating in the General Assembly of the Association Cuba Cooperation France (CubaCoop).
The diplomat stressed the extraterritorial scope of the blockade imposed six decades ago, with pressure measures against other governments, institutions and individuals, during the forum that concluded late Saturday evening in Ivry-sur-Seine.
In that sense, she recognized the work CubaCoop has carried out, which includes projects in the areas of culture and heritage, especially in restoration and conservation, with concrete results in Cuban provinces such as Cienfuegos.
CubaCoop President Victor Fernandez, who was ratified in the post by the assembly, reiterated the organization’s commitment to Cuba and to promote cooperation projects that result in concrete benefits for its population. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
