Cubans Check Data on Electoral Rolls for February Referendum

Thousands of Cubans are reviewing their data in the electoral rolls published throughout the country for the February 24 constitutional referendum.

The listings, which have been posted in areas close to polling stations since Monday evening, show the personal information of the more than eight million Cubans illegible to vote.

The revision of these documents is very important because each voter needs to verify their data.

People with data problems can go to one of the 189 processing offices that the Ministry of the Interior has in the country, Colonel Magnolia Soto, Head of the Procedures Unit, said.

More than eight million Cubans are expected to ratify next February 24 the new constitution of the Republic approved on December 22 by the National Assembly of People’s Power.

The Magna Carta ratifies the Cuba´s socialist character and the governing role of the Communist Party in its society.

Besides, it includes changes in the structure of the State, expands guarantees and human rights, fosters foreign investment, and recognizes various forms of ownership, including the private one. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
