A triad of collaboration projects between Japan and Cuba in the production and conservation of seeds in urban agriculture was confirmed in the eastern province of Camagüey by the ambassador of that Asian country.
Both countries currently support more than 100 programs, having the role of the Ministry of Agriculture, benefited by donations of equipment and technologies for the production in a priority sector for the Cuban government.
In searching for better agro-ecological practices, which at the same time guarantee the innocuousness of the crops, the new agreements directly involve the Agricultural Company in Camagüey and the Entomophagous and Entomopathogenic Reproduction Center.
Camaguey has more than 16,000 square kilometers, is a fertile territory, where more than 4,000 farmers have already been benefited.
About 700 kilograms of seeds have generated productive indexes higher to 91,000 tons of vegetables, until late 2017, according to official figures.
The Japanese ambassador told the press to be gratified for the success of the projects and ‘we are determined to collaborate even more in favor of the Cuban economic and social development,’ he said. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
