The Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso theater confirmed today the concert by the US singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright on September 24th.
This theater is the first to open doors in Cuba after hurricane Irma devastated the country, which had to cancel various cultural and other events.
The Symphony Orchestra of the theater, directed by Giovanni Duarte, will accompany Wainwright, who has Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Varela, as special guest.
Wainwright is considered one of the most outstanding singers of his generation, with a strong solo career that began more than 20 years ago.
Last year, he performed at the Fabrica de Arte Cubano (Cuban Art Factory) in Havana.
On his official website, Wainwright said he admired the Cuban culture and also that in the coming concert he would perform along with some of the best Cuban musicians. (Taken from Prensa Latina)
