Yesterday afternoon, December 1, the funeral procession bearing the remains of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz reached the province of Camagüey, crossing the fertile plains of this region to receive a moving salute from the population along the Central Highway, and during an evening vigil in the capital city’s Ignacio Agramonte Plaza de la Revolución.
The cedar urn bearing the remains of the Comandante was placed, under an honor guard, inside the Plaza’s memorial.
Radio Cadena Agramonte reported that attending the vigil, along thousands of residents, were Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, first party secretary in Camagüey and Isabel González Cárdenas, president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
