Since 9 AM this Monday November 28 tens of thousands of Havana people have arrived at the Jose Marti Memorial to pay tribute to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro, who died last Friday at 90.
Walking slowly and in silence, the inhabitants of Havana, representing the entire country, enter the Memorial, at the Revolution Square, and watch pictures of the Commander in Chief and several of the many medals he received in life.
Marking the beginning of the ceremony was a 21-gun salute shot from the San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress on the Havana Bay, as an homage of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).
At the same time, over a thousand places were opne throughout Cuba for people to sign a book showing their commitment to carry out with the ideals of Fidel and the Revolution
Top Cuban officials were present in the first guards of honor in the Memorial, along officers from FAR, personalities of the culture, sports and other sectors of Cuban society. (Taken from Cuban News Agency)
