On September 7, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, a member of the Party Political Bureau and first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, received a delegation headed by Natsuo Yamaguchi, president of the Komeito Party of Japan, visiting the island on the invitation of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).
During the meeting, which took place in a fraternal atmosphere, the two officials reaffirmed the interest of both their countries in strengthening the ties which unite the peoples of Cuba and Japan, as well as expanding political, economic and cooperative relations. The distinguished visitor presented Díaz-Canel with messages on behalf of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, to Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz and President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
Mr. Yamaguchi, whose party forms part of a government coalition led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visited various sites of scientific and economic interest, and was also received by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a Council of Ministers vice president; and representatives of the PCC Central Committee.
The Japanese leader was accompanied by the honorable Masaru Watanabe, ambassador of that country to Cuba, as well as other Komeito Party officials, all members of the visiting delegation. (Taken from en.granma.cu)
