US President Barack Obama stated here today that despite the differences between his country and Cuba both nations can progress in areas of common interest.
After a meeting of more than two hours with his Cuban counterpart Raul Castro, the US dignitary stated that in the last 15 months the advances was showed through measures taken by his administration such as broaden the possibilities of traveling to the island.
During the statement of both leaders with the press, Obama highlighted the recent action of his Government to unban the use of the USD for Cuba in international transactions, and welcomed Cuba’s decision to remove the tax from 10 percent to that coin.
He considered that such steps can generate more opportunities to develop trade and joint ventures.
In this regard, he highlighted that his accompanying delegation includes about 50 members of Congress, indicating the excitement and interest in this new era of ties between the two countries. (Taken from Prensa Latina News Agency)
