SANTIAGO DE CUBA.— The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, was elected as a delegate to the Communist Party of Cuba Seventh Congress from this heroic city, as part of the process underway prior to the important gathering scheduled to take place in Havana, this coming April.
The 306 local general secretaries of the José Martí district, bordering the Sierra Maestra and including an important industrial zone and residential area, had the honor.
After the individual presentation of the five proposed delegates by Gabriel Blanco Guillén, member of the Party’s provincial executive bureau, those present spontaneously approved the proposal, which undoubted reflects the feelings of all Cubans. (Taken from Granma)
