As a prelude to the 6th period of sessions of the 8th legislature of the National Assembly of the People’s Power, its 10 standing committees began today in Havana the discussion of topics related to the sectors or organizations they serve.
At Havana’s Convention Center, where on Tuesday the supreme organ of the Cuban State will meet in plenary, most of its members will review, for three days, strategic issues such as the implementation of the State Budget and the Economic Plan, and prospects for 2016.
Also, the response by institutions to approaches of the population, the confrontation of illegalities and social indiscipline and crime in various areas, and actions taken by the system of the People’s Power to perfect it with the participation of the masses are included on the committees’ agendas.
Although representatives of several organizations will give an update on these and other issues, the control and inspection visits made in recent months by deputies to companies, territories and communities will undoubtedly enrich debates.
For example, they verified the quality of services of the Ministry of Communications, the operation of maternity homes to know details about the care for pregnant girls and areas of concentration of non-state work, in order to verify the situation of young people and women, issues to be assessed before Tuesday.
The implementation of the policy on the simplification and integration of services and procedures of the population, the progress of investment, the state of accounts receivable and payable, and pollutant sources, the quality of the educational process at universities and traffic accidents are part of the day’s agenda of one or other committee.
