The Cuban welter Roniel Iglesias from Pinar del Rio province won his seventh crown and Julio Cesar la Cruz equaled as top winner in the semi-weight division to say a great good bye to the 53rd National Boxing Tournament Playa Giron which was leaded again by Camaguey Team.
Iglesias won again- like in 2012 and 2013- versus his implacable rival Arisnoidys Despaigne from Santiago de Cuba, to win his seventh medal and get the eighth position of those who had won more in the national classics leaded by Felix Savon (13) and Teofilo Stevenson (11).
La Cruz, from Camaguey fought versus the boxer from Havana Enmanuel Reyes (3-0) and not only won his sixth medal but also was tie with Pablo Romero, boxer from Pinar del Rio in the tops of this category.
Also the light welter Yasniel Toledo won for the sixth time versus Luis Oliva from Matanzas (3-0).
Yosvani Veitia won for the first time in fly category versus Jorge Luis Cordero from Artemisa, after three years leading in 49 kgs.
The Olympic champion Robeysis Ramirez from Cienfuegos had a hard commitment in the feather category because Andy Cruz from Matanzas was hard to defeat (2-1).
Light weight Lazaro Alvarez, world champion won versus the promising Arnando Martinez from Havana (3-0).
In the 75 kgs Arlen Lopez from Guantanamo reached the book of monarchs after a hard fight with Emilio Correa.
The last fight was for heavy weight Leinier Eunice Pero from Camaguey who won his third award versus Yoandi Toirac from Havana.
Santiago Amador (49 kgs) and Erislandi Savon (91 kgs) also fought and Savon got the trio of triumphs and was also selected the most technical athlete of this competition.
The positions are: Camaguey (3-0-4); Guantanamo (2-0-4), Pinar del Rio (2-0-0) and Matanzas (1-2-2).
