HAVANA, Cuba, July 15 (acn).- Cuban President Raul Castro headed the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday for 32 new Cuban ambassadors to Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East and international organizations.
In swearing their oaths, the new diplomats stated their commitment to the Revolution and their homeland during the ceremony that was held at the Jose Marti Memorial in Havana, attended by Communist Party’s Political bureau members Esteban Lazo, president of the Cuban Parliament, and Bruno Rodriguez, minister of Foreign Affairs.
On behalf of the new ambassadors, Jose Carlos Hernandez expressed gratefulness for the trust laid upon them and he noted that they will meet their compromise on the basis of sacrifice, modesty and courage.
Deputy foreign minister Rogelio Sierra recalled that Cuban diplomacy is one of the political weapons of the Revolution, with transparency as one of its main characteristics. The official called on the diplomats to effectively communicate the ideas that they are defending and to keep preparing themselves culturally and politically, as well as to face the complex international scenario.
The new ambassadors previously laid a wreath at the monument of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the Revolution Square.
