Port operations at the harbor in Cienfuegos city, Cuba have steadily increased, but harmless to environment. This was one of the topics in the Maritime-Port colloquium held by the subsidiary of that province in Cuba Session from the Pan American Institute of Naval Engineering (IPIN). Three of the four presentations were related to measures and actions to perverse the ecosystem. One of them has to be with the decrease in the spillage of cereals while unloading from the freighters transporting them loose, which can be generally used. In another one, Jose Ramon Diaz Torres, director of the Administration of the Port in Cienfuegos said the operations had increased from 2,6 million tons in 2006 to 6,4 in 2013 above all in liquids loose unloading. He also noted that the increase foreseen in the possibility of process at the fuel oil refinery in Cienfuegos will augment and turn make more complex the shipping traffic with cargo which are potentially dangerous, so a control Center is needed.

Cesar Rosell Leon, port specialist presented the proposal of a system for environment procedure at Tricontinental Station, one of the most important that exist at the coast of Cienfuegos’ bay. On the other hand, Roberto Luis Gonzalez Suarez, director of Vessels’ Cuban Register office (RCB) in the province and president of the mentioned institute, made a proposal of approach to the insurance societies in the region. The four lectures will be presented in the annual technical society of IPIN Cuba, to be held next November in Havana.
