Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Vice President (VP) of the Council of States and Ministers, thanked the Cuban community of spiritualists for its demonstrations of commitment with the people, the Revolution and the cause of the Cuban Five.
During a moving meeting with representatives of this religious manifestation from several provinces, the member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party noted that in this moment of economic transformations, carried out in the country towards a more viable socialism and with more social justice, it is also necessary to work with spirituality, the emotions and the people’s opinions.
“If we are able to promote our economy and we assume the result of the product with culture, knowledge, decency, with neither vanities nor selfishness and with solidarity gesture; we are defending our ideal and with that we agree in all topics”, he said. Diaz-Canel ratified the government and Party’s confidence on the Cuban spiritualists and recognized their roll in the struggle to keep the union of the nation. He stressed the job they carry out with the people to be better human beings, their commitment with the history, their contribution with the education of the new generations for better social behaviour and the promotion they make with the values like fraternity, respect and coexistence among the citizens.
Likewise, he asked them to preserve Cuban spiritualism’s identity, based on the historical roots, without allowing the imposition of foreign formulas to guarantee its autonomy. He explained that Barack Obama’s administration has assigned a millionaire sum of money to support a group of more than 113 subversive programs, very well designed, in search to have the society sectors –among them the religious one- break with the Cuban Revolution and this way undermine the union of the people.
The Cuban leader highlighted the participation of the spiritualist community in the Cuban Pastoral Platform where they have participated in solidarity with the Cuban Five forums and had denounced the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
The spiritualists thanked the meeting, the possibilities the more than 550 societies en Cuba have, to freely develop their activities with the support of the authorities. They also exposed the job they carry out for the welfare of the human beings and the society and their disposition to keep on with it, in support to the call made by Army General Raul Castro to have a more cultured and educated people.
Caridad Diego Bello, Head of the Office of Religious Affairs from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba was also present in the meeting.
